Resorts of the Canadian Rockies Inc is seeking an Events Assistant to join our team at Fernie Alpine Resort.  This role is responsible for providing support to the Events Manager in planning, executing and reporting on all aspects of events at Fernie Alpine Resort.  The ideal candidate will have experience in planning and executing outstanding events, have strong organizational and multi-tasking skills, and have a passion for the ski & snowboard industry.

 

Duties:

  • To ensure a safe, comfortable and friendly atmosphere for both guests and staff
  • Support the Events Manager in the preparation, set-up, delivery and tear down for special events
  • Assist in communicating event information and logistics to the various departments within the resort
  • Assist in promoting upcoming events throughout the resort and community
  • Assist with sponsorship for events
  • Volunteer recruitment, training and coordination for certain events
  • Collect and post-event results, photos and video regularly
  • Assist with post-event wrap up reports
  • Lead the Community Events Program and Holiday Activity Programs
  • Know and adhere to the policies, rules and protocols outlined in the RCR Employee Handbook
  • Know and follow all safe work procedures included in the Safety Management Program
  • Know and comply with all expectations of the Injury Management/Return-to-Work Programs
  • Assist the Marketing Department and other areas with various duties as required

 

Qualifications:

  • Previous experience in event coordination and delivery required
  • Strong organizational skills with attention to detail
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent multi-tasking skills and ability to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Must be friendly and an energetic team player willing to deliver a high level of customer service
  • Strong computer skills, with working experience in Microsoft Word and Excel
  • Intermediate level or stronger ski/snowboard ability required
  • Must be physically able to lift, carry and move event equipment
  • Able to work long hours on your feet during event days and outdoors in a variety of weather conditions
  • Knowledge of the ski/resort industry would be an asset
  • Post-secondary education (degree or diploma) in event planning or related field would be an asset
