Job Overview
Oversees the building, equipment, and grounds of a hotel to ensure they are safe, clean, and functional. This role involves managing the maintenance staff, handling repairs, implementing preventive maintenance programs, managing the department’s budget, and ensuring compliance with safety regulations. Key responsibilities include responding to guest complaints, coordinating with contractors, and planning for renovations and maintenance projects.
Duties
- Team and staff management: Hire, train, and supervise maintenance staff, assign daily tasks, and conduct performance reviews.
- Maintenance and repairs: Oversee the repair of all hotel systems, including mechanical, electrical, and plumbing, and ensure the upkeep of guest rooms, common areas, and exteriors.
- Preventive maintenance: Develop and implement schedules for routine inspections and preventive maintenance to avoid equipment failure and unexpected breakdowns.
- Guest services: Respond promptly to guest maintenance requests and complaints, and communicate with other departments to ensure guest comfort and safety.
- Budget and administration: Manage the maintenance department’s budget, track expenses, and prepare reports.
- Safety and compliance: Ensure all maintenance operations comply with safety regulations, building codes, and health standards, and train staff on safety procedures.
- Contractor and vendor management: Source, evaluate, and manage outside contractors and service providers for specialized work.
- Project management: Assist in the planning and execution of renovation or refurbishment projects, ensuring minimal disruption to hotel guests.
Experience
- Proven experience as a Maintenance Manager in a hotel or similar setting.
- Strong knowledge of building systems (HVAC, electrical, plumbing) and maintenance techniques.
- Excellent leadership abilities with strong communication skills in English.
- Proficiency in budget management and report writing.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends.
- Familiarity with safety regulations and best practices.
