Sales Associate / Art Consultant (Part-Time) | H Squared Gallery

About the Role

We are looking for a motivated and personable Sales Associate / Art Consultant to join our gallery team. In this part-time role, you will be the face of the gallery — welcoming visitors, building relationships with collectors, and guiding clients through the process of discovering and acquiring artwork. If you have a passion for the arts and a talent for sales and customer engagement, we’d love to meet you.

This is a location specific job and you must be based in Fernie, BC.

Responsibilities

– Greet and engage gallery visitors, providing a warm and knowledgeable experience

– Consult with clients to understand their interests and connect them with artwork that fits their vision and budget

– Drive sales through relationship-building, follow-up, and thoughtful art recommendations

– Maintain accurate records of client interactions, sales, and inquiries using gallery management tools

– Assist with day-to-day administrative tasks including scheduling appointments, managing correspondence, and maintaining inventory records

– Support the installation and presentation of exhibitions as needed

– Assist with social media posting across the gallery’s platforms (Instagram, Facebook, etc.), including sharing exhibition updates, artwork highlights, and behind-the-scenes content

– Contribute to a welcoming, professional gallery environment

Qualifications

– Prior experience in sales, retail, or a client-facing role is required

– Strong interpersonal and communication skills with a customer-first mindset

– Highly organized with attention to detail and comfort handling administrative responsibilities

– Interest in or knowledge of fine art, design, or the gallery world

– Proficiency with basic office tools (email, spreadsheets, scheduling software)

– Ability to work weekends and some evenings as gallery hours require
