Fernie Veterinary Services is seeking a friendly and professional part-time Receptionist to join our team. The ideal candidate will be the first point of contact for our clients and visitors, providing exceptional customer service while managing front desk operations. This role requires strong organizational skills, proficiency in Microsoft 360, and the ability to handle multiple tasks efficiently in a fast-paced environment.

Veterinary Receptionist
Location: Fernie, BC
Wage: $20–21/hour (based on experience)
Schedule: 8-24 hours/week (Some Saturday coverage required)
Benefits: Comprehensive benefits package after probationary period

Duties

  • Actively promotes a positive, professional image of the Veterinary Clinic in all interactions
  • Supports client education and is generally knowledgeable about all clinic treatments, services and over the counter products (ie. Nutrition, Supplements)
  • Triages and schedules appointments by phone, online or in person
  • Admitting of patients, taking weights and collects previous medical information to ensure updated patient files
  • Responsible for cash reconciliation and daily accounts payables reporting
  • Uses database to review, update and maintain accurate patient medical records, certificates, procedure estimates, process payments and resolve invoices while safeguarding patient confidentiality at all times

Education and Certifications

  • Completion of Secondary School Diploma or equivalent – Required
  • Additional post-secondary education, training or certification in a related field such as; Veterinary Assistant or Medical Office Assistant- Strong Asset

Experience

  • Competently learns and uses computer operating systems, software and applications such as MS Office, Outlook, Excel and various database entry programs (AviMark, Petdesk, EIDAP)- Required
  • Previous experience volunteering, working with or caring for animals- Strong asset
  • Experience in customer service environment- Required
  • Previous cash handling experience – Strong asset
  • Experience handling professional calls and correspondence, and/or previous triage experience- Strong asset
