Position Overview

We are seeking reliable and hardworking Construction Labourers to support the development and maintenance of campground infrastructure in the Fernie area. This role involves a mix of general construction, site preparation, and outdoor physical work in a dynamic environment.

The ideal candidate is safety-conscious, adaptable, and comfortable working in varying weather conditions and terrain.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist with site preparation, including clearing, grading, and excavation
  • Support construction of campground amenities (washroom/shower buildings, pads, utility installations, fencing, signage)
  • Load and unload materials, tools, and equipment
  • Operate basic hand and power tools safely and efficiently
  • Assist skilled trades (carpenters, equipment operators, plumbers, electricians) as required
  • Perform general labour duties such as digging, lifting, hauling, and backfilling
  • Maintain a clean and organized job site
  • Follow all safety protocols and company procedures
  • Identify and report hazards or unsafe conditions

Qualifications & Requirements

  • Previous construction or labour experience preferred (campground or civil work an asset)
  • Ability to perform physically demanding work (lifting up to 50 lbs, repetitive tasks)
  • Comfortable working outdoors in varying weather conditions
  • Valid driver’s license (Class 5 preferred)
  • Basic knowledge of construction tools and practices
  • Strong work ethic and ability to work independently or as part of a team
  • Reliable transportation to job sites
  • Basic personal protective equipment
    • Steel toed & shank boots
    • Hard hat
    • Work gloves/ safety glasses/ hearing protection

Assets (Not Required but Beneficial)

  • Experience operating small equipment (skid steer, mini excavator)
  • Landscaping experience
  • First Aid certification
  • WHMIS certification
  • Experience with utility installation (water, sewer, electrical)

Working Conditions

  • Outdoor work in all weather conditions
  • Variable terrain including uneven ground and forested areas
  • Early starts and occasional extended hours depending on project timelines

Compensation & Benefits

  • Competitive hourly wage based on experience
  • Overtime eligibility – over 40 hours per week
