Münter Design & Build is hiring experienced carpenters and lead carpenters for our custom residential projects in Fernie.

We design and build high-quality custom homes that combine thoughtful architecture, skilled craftsmanship, and modern building science. We are looking for dependable carpenters who take pride in accurate work and want to be part of an organized, professional team.

Our projects offer variety. Depending on your experience and strengths, you may work across multiple stages of construction, from structural framing through exterior and finishing details.

What you’ll be doing

Your responsibilities may include:

• Framing walls, floors, roofs, decks, and structural components
• Installing windows, doors, stairs, backing, blocking, and exterior details
• Reading plans and working accurately from construction drawings
• Completing high-performance building details, including air sealing and envelope work
• Coordinating with site supervisors, project managers, other carpenters, and trades
• Identifying problems early and helping develop practical solutions
• Maintaining safe, clean, organized, and productive job sites
• Leading and mentoring other crew members, if applying for a lead position

We do not expect every carpenter to specialize in every area. Responsibilities will be matched to your experience, abilities, and interests.

What we’re looking for

• Can read plans and work independently from drawings
• Are confident using standard carpentry tools and equipment
• Are reliable, punctual, and professional
• Communicate clearly and work well with others
• Care about job-site safety, organization, and productivity
• Want to keep developing your skills and building better homes

Custom-home, high-performance building, framing, finishing, or crew-leadership experience would be particularly valuable.

Red Seal certification is an asset, but it is not required. Skill, attitude, reliability, and quality of work matter more to us than the credential alone.

A valid driver’s licence and reliable transportation are strongly preferred.

Compensation and benefits

• $40–$50/hour for experienced carpenters, based on skill, experience, and ability to work independently
• Up to $55/hour for proven lead carpenters who can organize work, coordinate a crew, solve problems, and maintain quality
