Job Description
The Administrative Assistant will work closely with the administrative and property management teams at Elk Valley Family Society to support the daily operations of our non-profit housing programs. This position offers hands-on experience in office administration, community programming, tenant relations, and organizational development within a mission-driven environment.
Experience and requirements
- Customer service and basic administrative experience are an asset
- Computer skills and Microsoft Office Skills are an asset

- Occasionally assisting maintenance department in tenant units
Tasks
- Assisting with general office administration, including organizing files, preparing documents, data entry, and digitizing records to support improved efficiency.
- Contributing to fundraising initiatives by helping plan, promote, and lead small campaigns or community-based events.
- Supporting the implementation of tenant support programs, community events, resource distribution, and other outreach activities that enhance tenant well-being.
- Assisting with technical and digital tasks such as updating program databases, managing online forms, or troubleshooting simple office technology needs.
- Working alongside the Property Manager to support tenant relations, including communication with residents, scheduling appointments, distributing notices, and helping respond to tenant questions or concerns in a respectful and trauma-informed manner.
- Assisting Maintenance Manager with various tasks such as knocking and unlocking tenant units and organizing notices to enter units.
- Participating in the creative planning and coordination of community events, tenant engagement projects, and outreach initiatives aimed at building stronger, safer, and more connected housing communities.
- Modelling professionalism and empathy when working with individuals from diverse backgrounds, including those facing housing insecurity, financial hardship, or fleeing violence.
- This role will allow the employee to develop a broad range of administrative, communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills while contributing directly to community housing stability.
