Help Drivers When They Need It Most

Tunnel49 Automotive and Fernie Towing are looking for a dependable and safety-conscious On-Call Tow Truck Driver to join our team in Fernie.

This position is well suited to someone who has a flexible schedule, works confidently on their own and remains calm when responding to roadside situations.

You will assist stranded motorists, transport vehicles and represent our company professionally throughout Fernie and the surrounding area. Every call is different, but the goal is always the same: provide safe, reliable and respectful service when customers need help.

What You’ll Be Doing

Your responsibilities may include:

• Responding to towing and roadside-service calls
• Safely loading, securing, transporting and unloading vehicles
• Assisting customers during breakdowns, collisions and other roadside situations
• Completing vehicle inspections before and after operating company equipment
• Communicating clearly with customers, dispatchers and team members
• Following safe driving, towing and roadside procedures
• Maintaining accurate records for completed calls
• Keeping the tow truck and related equipment clean and ready for use
• Reporting vehicle, equipment or safety concerns promptly
• Representing Tunnel49 Automotive and Fernie Towing professionally in the community

What We’re Looking For

You may be a strong fit if you:

• Have a valid Class 5 British Columbia driver’s licence
• Have a safe and responsible driving history
• Live in Fernie or close enough to respond reliably when scheduled on call
• Have a flexible schedule and can provide on-call or standby coverage
• Work well independently and make responsible decisions
• Remain calm and professional in stressful situations
• Communicate clearly with customers and coworkers
• Are punctual, dependable and able to follow through on commitments
• Are committed to safe driving and professional conduct
• Are comfortable working outdoors in changing weather conditions
• Are legally entitled to work in Canada

Helpful Experience

Previous towing experience would be an asset, but we also welcome applicants with relevant transferable experience.

Helpful backgrounds may include:

• Commercial or professional driving
• Automotive repair or roadside assistance
• Equipment operation
• Delivery, shuttle or transportation services
• Emergency response
• Customer service
• Work involving vehicles, machinery or outdoor conditions

Additional driving credentials, mechanical knowledge, first aid training or towing-related certifications would also be considered assets.

Schedule and Availability

This is a casual, year-round position involving scheduled on-call and standby coverage.

Applicants must have enough flexibility to respond reliably during their assigned coverage periods. The position may include daytime, evening, overnight, weekend and holiday calls.

The exact schedule and availability expectations will be discussed during the interview process.

Because response time is important, preference may be given to applicants who live in Fernie or within a practical response distance from the community.
