GearHub Sports is Fernie’s go-to outdoor shop — locally owned, award-winning, and genuinely passionate about getting people outside. We’re growing our floor team and we’re open to where you’re coming from, as long as you bring the enthusiasm and the work ethic.
This is a full-time, year-round role. Summer is bike season; winter shifts into ski and rental. We’ll cross-train you on what you don’t already know.
Bike specialist? You’re our first choice and we’d love to talk. But if your background is ski, hiking, paddling, or general outdoor retail — apply. The right attitude beats a specific résumé every time.

WHAT YOU’LL DO
– Help customers find the right bike, ski, or gear — and guide them through the full sales process
– Build genuine relationships with customers, not just transactions
– Handle sales, rentals, merchandising and POS
– Stay curious about product knowledge — we’ll help you get there
– Support opening and closing duties and keep the floor running smoothly
– Pitch in wherever needed in a busy, team-focused shop
WHAT MATTERS MOST
Non-negotiable:
– Genuine love of the outdoors
– Friendly and confident with people
– Reliable and takes initiative
– Comfortable in a fast-paced environment
Helpful but not required:
– Retail or customer-facing experience
– Mountain bike or ski product knowledge
– Knowledge of Fernie’s trails
– POS or rental system experience
No formal retail experience? If you’ve spent a season at a resort, guided trips, worked a bike rental desk, or just know your gear inside out — that counts. Tell us about it.
