You live for winter. Skis, boots, bindings — you know your way around a fitting and you light up when someone asks for a gear recommendation. And when summer rolls around, you’re just as happy talking bikes, hiking, or whatever gets people outside.
GearHub Sports is Fernie’s go-to outdoor shop — locally owned, award-winning, and known for our bootfitting. We’re growing our floor team and looking for someone who’ll split their time between our rental desk and sales floor, keeping both running smoothly all season.
This is a year-round role. Winter is ski and rental season — fitting boots, tuning up rental fleets, and getting people out the door with the right setup. Summer shifts into bikes and general outdoor gear. We’ll cross-train you on what you don’t already know.

What you’ll do
- Split your time between the rental desk and the sales floor — fitting skis and boots for rental customers, then helping shoppers find the right setup to buy
- Run the rental process start to finish: fitting, sizing, prepping gear, and turning it around for the next customer
- Help customers find the right ski, bike, or gear — and guide them through the full sales process
- Build genuine relationships with customers, not just transactions
- This position can be part-time, and may be shared between our main shop and our consignment location
- Stay curious about product knowledge — we’ll help you get there
- Support opening and closing duties and keep both the rental and sales floor running smoothly
- Pitch in wherever needed in a busy, team-focused shop

- Comfortable in a fast-paced environment, moving between rental and sales
Helpful but not required
- Ski or boot fitting experience
- Rental desk or resort experience
- Bike or general outdoor product knowledge
- POS or rental system experience
No formal retail experience? If you’ve spent a season at a resort, worked a ski or bike rental desk, guided trips, or just know your gear inside out — that counts. Tell us about it.
