Want to join a team of dedicated, skilled baristas delivering outstanding coffee experiences in the heart of downtown Fernie? We’re looking for some motivated and passionate people to join our team. The position would be primarily front of house, with some additional coffee bagging hours in the roastery up for grabs as well. Experience in coffee, food and beverage, hospitality in general is always a bonus, but we’re focused on someone who’d fit well with our team. If you love working with a fast-paced team to hustle through a busy rush, all while building a warm, welcoming coffee community – you might be just the right fit!

What does working at Rooftop look like? 

  • Efficiently serving up a variety of drinks- primarily espresso-based, but also matcha, loose leaf teas, chai lattes, etc.
  • Greeting customers, taking their coffee/food orders, answering questions – generally providing stellar customer service all around.
  • Perform open and closing duties. An opening shift looks like prepping the baked goods for our pastry case, dialling in espresso, arranging the patio seating, and setting the perfect playlist for the day. A close involves cleaning the shop, basic cleaning of the espresso machine, restocking syrups/cups/lids/supplies, running drinkware through the dishwasher, and generally setting the openers up for success.
  • Become a resident coffee nerd, helping people through our rotation of seasonal offerings, providing the perfect recommendation for beans to take home, and being a customer’s approachable entry into the world of specialty coffee.
  • “Back-of-house” roles like bagging coffee, preparing wholesale and online orders, and assisting our roastery team with quality control and order fulfillment are all on the table for the right candidates.

Our dream candidate:

  • Previous experience in customer-facing hospitality and food & beverage roles – doesn’t necessarily have to be coffee!
  • Must be a people person – working effectively in a team and meeting each customer with warmth and kindness are a must.
  • Thrives working in a fast-paced, efficient environment without sacrificing quality or cutting corners.
  • Curious to learn more about the world of specialty coffee. We love flavour nerds all kinds –  if you’re already down the rabbit hole on baking/wine/cocktails/food/delicious things in general, we wanna hear about it!
  • Housing secured in Fernie.
  • Full-time availability is ideal (4-5 days/week), but part-time is also available.
