Journeyman Heavy Duty Mechanic

We are looking for an experienced Journeyman Heavy Duty Mechanic to join our team in the Elk Valley / Fernie area. This position is focused on maintaining and repairing our internal fleet, including heavy off-road equipment, highway tractor trailers, and light-duty vehicles. We’re looking for someone dependable, mechanically strong, and capable of working independently in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

• Perform inspections, diagnostics, repairs, and preventative maintenance on:
  • Heavy off-road equipment
  • Highway tractor trailers
  • Light-duty trucks and vehicles
• Troubleshoot hydraulic, electrical, air, and mechanical systems
• Complete CVIP inspections and maintenance where applicable
• Perform welding and fabrication repairs as required
• Maintain accurate service records and repair documentation
• Ensure equipment is safe, reliable, and operating efficiently
• Work with operators and supervisors to prioritize repairs and minimize downtime
• Keep work area clean and organized while following all safety procedures

Requirements

• Minimum 3rd Year Red Seal Heavy Duty Mechanic Apprentice certification required
• Journeyman certification considered a strong asset
• Minimum 5 years of mechanical experience
• Experience working on heavy equipment, highway trucks, and light vehicles
• Welding experience considered an asset
• Strong troubleshooting and diagnostic skills
• Ability to work independently and manage workload effectively
• Valid driver’s license required
