The Operations Manager supports the General Manager in coordinating daily gravel pit, crushing, aggregate production, trucking, mining, and construction operations. This role helps oversee project planning, quoting, crews, equipment, dispatch, production schedules, and project execution while ensuring safety, efficiency, and customer satisfaction.

The ideal candidate is organized, team-oriented, and experienced in heavy civil, aggregate, mining, or construction operations. This position requires a hands-on approach, strong communication skills, and the ability to manage multiple priorities in fast-paced environments.

Key Responsibilities

  • Coordinate daily pit, crushing, trucking, and construction operations
  • Assist with project planning, quoting, scheduling, production targets, and job costing
  • Supervise operators, drivers, labourers, and field crews
  • Manage dispatch, fleet utilization, and material delivery logistics
  • Maintain strong customer, contractor, and supplier relationships
  • Support business sales activities, pricing, and client retention
  • Conduct site inspections and support safety compliance initiatives
  • Assist with hiring, training, and performance management
  • Monitor production, inventory, and equipment utilization
  • Support crews and operations with hands-on assistance as required
  • Ensure projects are completed safely, on time, and within budget

Qualifications & Skills

  • 5+ years experience in aggregate, mining, crushing, trucking, construction, or heavy civil operations preferred
  • Strong knowledge of aggregate production, dispatch, and heavy equipment operations
  • Minimum 2 years supervisory or leadership experience
  • Excellent communication, organization, and problem-solving skills
  • Strong work ethic with a team-oriented and hands-on attitude
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office and operational reporting systems
  • Valid driver’s license required

Working Conditions & Compensation

  • Combination of office, field, pit, and construction site work
  • Travel between pits and job sites required
  • Extended hours during peak seasons, including weekends and weather-dependent scheduling
